SELL YOUR TIMBER OR LAND ON THE INTERNET
NEW FREE SERVICE AT www.se-timbersales.com

The list of timber buyers to whom we regularly send invitations to bid contains 3,848 names. The number of landowners who receive our Green Sheet exceeds 115,000. To help these and other buyers and sellers of timber and timberland get together, we’ve set up a new site on the Internet: www.se-timbersales.com. Its use is open to everyone (individual landowners, consulting foresters, industries, sales agents, investors, etc.) with timber or land to sell. For the time being, its use is absolutely FREE. We invite you to visit it.

Description of Site

On the Home Page is a map of the area we cover. It lies east of the Great Plains and south of the northern borders of Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Virginia. At the bottom of the page are several links; click on them for help to find the data you seek.

Browse by State: Click on the state name to bring up an alphabetical list of counties with active sales. Click on the county name to bring up all the sales in it.

Click on an individual sale to bring up a one-page summary, an example of which appears below. We post on the site everything that sellers send us, and we urge them to furnish as much data as possible so as to interest buyers. Nevertheless, what you see is all we got. If the seller is a JMV&CO client, extra sheets, often five or six, attached to his summary will contain all our usual data. Landowners using other foresters or systems may present different data, but the sources of all such data are conspicuously labeled.

About Us: Click here to bring up a description of who we are and what we hope to accomplish with this site. You will find that use of it is FREE only during its introduction. If it proves to offer a valuable service, we plan to charge for it, and that’s our only objective.

Contact Us: Click here for an easy way to ask us for information that we forgot to give you.

Submit New Listing: Click here to bring up a form that we have explained in detail below and that we require everyone to use. We established the categories of information in it by writing all 3,848 buyers on our computer list in February 1999. If you don’t fill in all blanks, you will decrease interest in your sale. The more data you submit, the better your chance for a successful sale.

The site can be viewed by everyone with 3.0 or better versions of network browsers.

We urge sellers to give buyers plenty of time to examine the tract and prepare their bids, but they make the choice. Twenty-four hours after its bid time and date, <www.se-timbersales.com> will delete the sale register and the county highlighting that it caused.

This site was conceived of as a means to help sellers because we’ve been on their sides of the trades for nearly 50 years. But it won’t really help them unless they use it to provide detailed, accurate information for buyers. Buyers are highly-skilled professionals with high-pressure jobs; if they don’t buy, their mills must shut down at great expense. Consequently, they have no time to waste.

We shall do our best to make www.se-timbersales.com a valuable resource for them. Our main tool will be to require sellers to furnish a full description of the property for sale. A name and a phone number and a "Make me an offer" won’t be enough. In addition, each registration must contain only a single tract. We may register many tracts for a single agent, but a mere list of them won’t do.

In italics below, we have inserted hypothetical suggestions for the one-page summary:
